Your privacy is very important to us. We have put in place measures to ensure that any personal information or data that we obtain from you is processed in accordance with the accepted principles of good information handling and in particular in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act.
Use of your personal information
Intelligent Financing Limited is a broker of financial products including consumer credit and mortgages. We will use your information to provide you with a quote, to process your application and for marketing purposes (see Future Marketing below). We will contact you by phone, email and text unless you tell us otherwise. We will treat all your information as private and confidential except where we are permitted to disclose your information by law, or where the disclosure is made at your request or with your consent. Where necessary, your details will be shared with third parties such as the lender, your mortgage provider, joint applicants and credit reference agencies. Where your application has been introduced by a third party, for example another broker, we may disclose information concerning the progress of your application to them.
Right of access
You have the right of access to your personal information on request and with payment of a £10 fee. Should you wish to exercise this right please contact the Data Protection Officer at the correspondence address shown below.
Unless you advise us to the contrary, both we and other brokers or lenders we refer your application to may contact you by telephone, letter, e-mail, sms or fax to offer other products which they feel may be of interest to you, including mortgages.

Credit searches and fraud checks
We will make searches about you at credit reference agencies who will supply us with credit information and details from the Electoral Register. The agencies will record details of the search whether or not this application proceeds. Credit searches may affect your credit score as the records held by credit reference agencies are used by lenders when deciding whether to lend you money.
We and the lender may use credit-scoring methods to assess your application and to verify your identity. Credit searches and other information provided to us or the credit reference agencies about you and those with whom you are linked financially may be used by us or the lender in connection with your application. This information may also be used for debt tracing and the prevention of money laundering as well as the management of your loan.
To prevent or detect fraud, or to assist in verifying your identity, we or the lender may use fraud prevention agencies who will supply us with information. We may also pass information to financial institutions and other organisations involved in fraud prevention to protect ourselves and our customers from theft and fraud. If you give us false or inaccurate information and we suspect fraud, we will record this. We and other companies may use this information if decisions are made about you or others at your address in relation to credit or credit-related services.
When you make a joint application for a loan, you are declaring a financial association with another party. In doing this, you are stating that:
- you are entitled to disclose information about your joint applicant and anyone else referred to by you;
- you authorise us to search, link or record information at credit reference agencies about you, your joint applicant and anyone else referred to by you.
Information held about you by the credit reference agencies may already be linked to records relating to one or more other people, for example your partner. For the purposes of this application you may be treated as financially linked and your application will be assessed with reference to any associated records.
We store information that we collect through cookies, log files, clear gifs, or third parties to create a profile of our users.
When setting a cookie on our site, we allocate each visitor a Unique Reference which follows them throughout the site. This Unique Reference is logged along with referring domain information; your email address is only logged in the event that you make a loan application. If you do not make a loan application, only your referring domain information is stored.
Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. Like most standard websites, we also use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyse trends, administer the site, track users movement in the aggregate and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.
On occasion, we may employ a software technology called clear gifs that help us monitor the effectiveness on certain marketing and advertising which we do across the internet. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of web users.
If you have a complaint about any aspect of the service you have received our staff will be happy to help resolve your concerns. We recommend that you bring any issues to our attention as soon as possible, as the sooner we know about the issue the sooner we can resolve it.
On receipt of your complaint the matters raised will be investigated by an independent person within the company.
Should it be necessary to obtain information from third parties to further these investigations, you will be informed of this and where appropriate your written authority obtained before any disclosures are made by us to third parties.
